About Gulf Marine Repair
Our vision is to be recognized as the industry leader of shipyard and marine-related services that leverage our core competencies and assets as a result of our employees providing long-lasting relationships with our customers, community, and partners; best-in-class work quality; and superior environmental, health, and safety performance. Our employees come together every day as a team to provide the highest quality workmanship through honesty and integrity and dedicated hard work, resulting in total customer satisfaction.
Gulf Marine Repair was formed by Aaron Hendry in 1988. Its core business is the repair, conversion and modification of large oceangoing commercial vessels, tugs and barges, dredges, small ships, harbor tugs, and U.S. Coast Guard, MARAD, USACE and NOAA vessels. Our customer base is throughout Florida’s Gulf Coast and Eastern United States. GMR has grown in prominence as one of the top yards on the Gulf Coast for the repair of articulated tug-barge units engaged in transporting liquid bulk chemical and petroleum products and dry bulk products.
Our facility, located on the Ybor Ship Channel in Tampa, Florida, sits on a 50-acre site and contains roughly 3,200 linear feet of bulkheaded waterfront frontage. The location has been used as a shipyard since the start of World War II. GMR is invested in continued improvements and the latest technology as part of its ongoing strategic modernization plan and dedication to providing the highest possible level of service to its clients. Our mission is total customer satisfaction.
Under the guidance of the executive team, the Hendry Marine Industries, Inc. family of companies are focused on maintaining and growing current business lines, while keeping an eye toward future opportunities for expansion and diversification. HMI continues to foster a relationship-based marketing and sales strategy, allowing it to build upon and maximize the substantial, long-term industry relationships and the solid reputation of the Hendry family.
